We are looking for a highly skilled Security Network Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Hamilton, Ontario. In this role, you will focus on implementing, managing, and enhancing network security solutions to protect enterprise systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced technologies, including Cisco and Palo Alto platforms, in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

• Serve as the primary technical expert for Cisco and Palo Alto firewall platforms, overseeing their design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Configure and manage firewall rules, policies, VPNs, and traffic inspection to ensure robust network security.
• Conduct regular audits, analyze logs, and review policies to identify vulnerabilities and recommend security improvements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to integrate firewall solutions within the broader enterprise security framework.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network security incidents, including those related to firewall performance and connectivity.
• Monitor and optimize firewall performance and capacity to maintain scalability, reliability, and compliance.
• Implement and support network segmentation strategies and secure routing for both cloud and on-premise environments.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation on firewall configurations, policies, and procedures to ensure operational consistency.
• Stay informed about emerging threats, vendor updates, and new features for Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing and engineering Cisco and Palo Alto firewall environments.
• Proficiency in configuring firewalls, managing policies, and setting up secure, high-availability systems.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Panorama for centralized Palo Alto management and Cisco security platforms like Firepower.
• In-depth knowledge of network security concepts, including segmentation, intrusion prevention, and Zero Trust architectures.
• Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex firewall and network issues.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
• Relevant certifications such as Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or Cisco Certified Security certifications are highly desirable.
• Familiarity with advanced security tools or cloud networking (e.g., Azure) is considered an asset.
