Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Well-Being and Horse Wisdom Coordinator, the Horse Wisdom Facilitator is responsible for delivering equine-assisted therapy and culturally responsive programming for children, youth, and families. This position combines elements of social service delivery, horse wisdom facilitation, and stable/property maintenance to support client healing and personal development. The Facilitator will also assist in after-school programs and ensure the safe and effective operation of the stable facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A diploma in Social Services Community Worker (SSCW) from NBCC is considered an asset; candidates who do not possess the diploma must be willing to enroll in the course.
  • Certification in Horse Wisdom Facilitated Learning or willingness to complete certification is required.
  • Previous experience in social services, youth programming, or equine-assisted therapy is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physical labor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
  • Experience with livestock care and stable management is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Shift work, including weekends and holidays, may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Social Development record check, and routine drug testing.
  • Possession of a valid New Brunswick Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Horse Wisdom Facilitated Learning sessions in accordance with client case plans
  • Administer social support programs as directed by the Prevention Supervisor
  • Collaborate with the case team to promote culturally appropriate, trauma-informed care
  • Plan and lead after-school therapeutic programming for elementary and middle school–aged clients
  • Build and maintain supportive, respectful relationships with clients, their families, and community members
  • Promote traditional healing practices and cultural values during facilitation sessions
  • Ensure client safety, confidentiality, and dignity in all program settings
  • Oversee the daily care, feeding, and health monitoring of horses and other livestock
  • Maintain up-to-date health and medical records for all animals
  • Conduct regular cleaning and upkeep of the stable, barn, and surrounding property
  • Ensure farm tools and equipment are maintained in safe working condition
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of client attendance, progress, and session notes
  • Assist in preparing reports and data collection for internal use and external reporting
  • Follow agency policies and all relevant provincial and federal regulations regarding safety and animal care.
