REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
Who are we looking for? An experienced compensation leader who is passionate about both the science and art of compensation. You should bring extensive experience (around 8+ years) in designing and administering compensation programs, including expertise in job architecture, salary structure design, and incentive/bonus plans. You’re adept at using data and analytics to drive decisions, and you stay current on market trends and best practices. You have proven success in leading teams - you love coaching others and watching your team succeed. Project management comes naturally to you, and you’re comfortable juggling strategic projects and day-to-day operations in a dynamic environment. Equally important, you excel at building relationships and communicating complex ideas clearly, whether you’re training managers or presenting a proposal to senior leadership. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required (a Master’s degree and professional compensation certification - CCP - are a plus). If you have experience in healthcare or academic settings, that’s beneficial, but not mandatory.
In this role, leadership and collaboration are key. You will mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. You’ll manage cross-functional projects with partners in HR and other departments, taking the lead on compensation initiatives that span our large, complex organization. Your ability to influence strategic decision-making will be valued as you serve as a trusted compensation advisor to leadership. Importantly, you’ll be joining a community that truly lives its core values of caring, innovation, integrity, inclusion, and teamwork. At Michigan Medicine, these values aren’t just words - they guide everything we do and create a supportive, inclusive workplace where every team member can thrive.
