Basic Commitment: This position calls for a commitment to the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as noted in its theological confessions, the Book of Order, and the actions of the General Assembly. Purpose Stewardship & Funds Development (SFD) within the Administrative Services Group (ASG) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (PC(USA)) raises funds to support the mission and ministries of Presbyterian Life & Witness (PL&W). This position will focus on cultivating and securing major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Reports to: Associate Director, Funds Development Roles and Responsibilities * Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors with capacity to give five- and six-figure gifts. * Manage a portfolio of 75 to 125 donors/groups that results in achieving fundraising goals. Inform and cultivate prospects’ interests in the mission and ministries of PL&W. * Solicit match gifts for up to four direct mail campaigns annually. * Work with the Prospect Research Analyst to establish and track the giving strategy and goals for individual donors. * Collaborate with Stewardship Officers and the Annual Giving Officer to identify existing prospects and move donors along a strategic donor journey. * Develop in-depth knowledge of PL&W, its initiatives, and its internal and external constituents. * Convey funding priorities of PL&W through written and oral communications tailored to match prospects’ interests and values to organizational priorities and needs. This could include presentations, proposals, or other cases for support. * Organize and host events (online and in-person) to engage donors with ministry leaders. * Involve appropriate volunteers and staff members with the cultivation and solicitation processes, as needed and appropriate. * Utilize the constituent relationship management system for daily reporting of activity. * Ensure open communication with colleagues across SFD, ASG and PL&W. * Develop and execute personalized stewardship plans for major donors, ensuring regular and meaningful communication, including updates on project or proposal progress and impact. Coordinate high-level recognition and acknowledgments, ensuring donors feel valued and connected to the mission’s success. * Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned. Essential Position Requirements * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. * Minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising for nonprofits (preference for faith-based nonprofits) and proven record of securing five- and six-figure gifts. * Understanding and knowledge of the PC(USA) and its structure. * Proficiency with programs such as the Raisers Edge (SFD’s constituent relationship management system) and Microsoft Office suite. * Demonstrated interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to inspire and engage a diverse range of constituents and stakeholders. * Demonstrated comfort, energy, and poise in public speaking. * Sound working knowledge of fundraising principles and processes, ethical guidelines, and best practices. * Proven effectiveness working in a team environment, contributing to overall team success. * Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate the PC(USA)’s mission to donors through conversations, presentations, and collateral. * Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in effectively prospecting, engaging, and securing major gifts. * Commitment to professional ethics in working with highly confidential and sensitive information. * Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve problems quickly. * Ability to travel as required for meetings, donor visits, and events.
