About the role

An exciting opportunity for a Hospitality Industry professional to join the team as the Sous Chef in a coastal town in North West Tasmania. The restaurant is about to reopen after major renovations and requires a Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef. This hands on and fast-paced role is to improve, maintain and ensure the operation exceeds guest's expectations and to lead, manage and develop your team to assist you in this pursuit.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting with creating an operating environment that assures consistent and exceptional guest satisfaction
  • Assisting with recruiting, training and managing direct reporting staff
  • Assisting with rostering and people development
  • Assisting to deliver budgeted COGS
  • Lead and manage your team
  • Improve and maintain kitchen operations
  • Analyze current systems, policies and procedures to improve overall operation

About you

  • Proven success in a Sous Chef role or Chef de partie experience within the hospitality industry, or a strong Chef ready for their next step
  • Experienced and motivated culinary professional with strong attention to detail
  • Passion about food and Tasmanian produce
  • Hands on management style
  • Positive customer service attitude
  • Confident to take charge and own the result
  • Ability to receive and accept feedback
  • Great eye for detail and venue presentation
  • Strong with rostering, cost control, ordering and food safety management
  • Flexible and willing to do what is required

This is a great opportunity for a long term, stable position in the Hospitality industry.

You will be confident in analyzing current systems, policies and procedures in place to improve the overall operation. It is essential to have either previous Sous Chef experience or Chef de partie experience within the hospitality industry or be a strong Chef who is ready for their next step.
