Under general supervision, English as a Second Language Teacher, also known as the ESL Teacher, serves as a specialist for multilingual students who are learning English as a second language. The ESL teacher works in a SEI program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in small group and individual student settings. In addition to this explicit ESL instruction, the ESL teacher provides in-class linguistic support for newcomers and assists general education classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English learners. The ESL Teacher collaborates with the 1) building ELE team to ensure equitable access to both academic and non-academic opportunities for the school’s English learners and 2) district elementary ELE team to develop/align/refine the elementary ESL curriculum (WIDA 2020 Standards).The ESL teacher works under the supervision of the principal and the district Director of ELE
