About This Opportunity The Senior Officer, Advancement & Development plays a key role in driving the mission of the Institute for Molecular Bioscience by delivering high‑impact engagement events and helping grow a vibrant pipeline of supporters through thoughtful donor stewardship and cultivation. This role also supports the management of a portfolio of current and prospective annual donors by working closely with central and local advancement teams, providing insightful data, shaping compelling cases for support, and crafting meaningful donor impact reports. Key responsibilities will include: Plan, design and deliver donor engagement activities—including events, initiatives, and communications—by aligning event aims, managing logistics, preparing briefings, developing guest lists, coordinating suppliers (venues, catering, AV, photography), and providing status and evaluation reports. Coordinate campaign strategies with Communications & Engagement staff to ensure alignment, brand consistency, and integrated messaging to stakeholders. Identify engagement opportunities for current and prospective donors and manage guest list coordination across the annual engagement calendar. Support donor cultivation and relationship management by collaborating with UQ Advancement, providing data insights, and implementing actions that grow the donor pipeline. Collaborate across IMB Stakeholder Partnerships, UQ Advancement, and the Institute and its Centres to develop and implement strategies that strengthen domestic and international stakeholder relationships. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 12 months at HEW Level 6. About You Degree with subsequent relevant experience in marketing, public relations or other relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Strong understanding of the fundraising lifecycle and alumni relations principles, including the importance of donor and volunteer engagement and stewardship in supporting fundraising strategies. Solid knowledge of marketing and communications principles, along with an appreciation for accurate data evaluation, tracking, and data integrity. Demonstrated experience in project management, including developing and delivering high‑quality events and engagement programs within designated budgets and achieving measurable outcomes. Experience in community engagement and managing both small and large‑scale online and in‑person events, including understanding relevant public safety and public liability laws and regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, supported by strong interpersonal capabilities. Highly effective organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to work independently while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle situations which require initiative, independent judgement, and consultation with senior stakeholders. Proficiency with a wide range of computer applications and data analysis tools relevant to advancement and engagement, including CRM/database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Graduway, or Salesforce).
