EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

· Minimum two to three years of financial reporting experience and working with accounting reporting cycles (month-end, quarter-end and year-end)
· Accounting degree / CPA/ or working towards completion of CPA
· Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks (very important) and Excel, including VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables etc.
· Very strong attention to detail.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Accounting Team. Reporting to the Manager Accounting and to the CFO, the position will be responsible for facilitating assisting in the day-to-day running of the accounting department. The successful candidate will also act as an internal auditor for the various processes within the organization.
NOTE: Currently fully remote, may transition into onsite at our Mississauga location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting working papers, analyze the financial statements and prepare management reports under tight reporting deadlines.
· Prepare weekly bank reconciliations.
· Work with data downloaded from QuickBooks, merge information from QuickBooks reports into various combined spreadsheets.
· Responsible for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving accounting problems and discrepancies including scrubbing student data in QuickBooks.
· Coordinate audits and working with audit firms, including preparation of working papers for auditors.
· Be able to identify areas in respective duties that require process improvements and work with the team and manager to implement any changes necessary.
· Lead the process of preparing annual student tax slips to be filed by February 28.
· Prepare and file HST, EHT and WSIB returns.
· Prepare annual regulatory annual reports while building up the data monthly.
· Take on special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
