An exciting opportunity has arisen for competent individuals to join a large team of Support workers in the busy environment of UMAC. The unit is responsible for the safe admission and assessment of patients, and ensuring excellent care is provided at all times.
Applications are welcomed from individuals who are hard working, have good communication skills, excellent team work and can demonstrate previous hospital care experience and care skills.
It is essential that applicants have NVQ level 3 in care, or working towards, and show evidence in using extended clinical skills or be working towards extended clinical skills
HOURS: Full time available on rotational shift pattern (a mixture of long days and late twi and Twilight shifts), working opposite the other band 3’s to ensure maximum coverage of the assessment.
The successful candidate will be required to assist staff nurses by starting diagnostic testing such as blood tests , cannulas and ECG’s to expedite waiting times.
We strive to deliver a high standard of care to our patients keeping them at the heart of what we do.
Provide high quality basic nursing care as directed by care plans, registered nurse/nursing associates senior staff including:
Assistance with personal hygiene
Assistant with toileting
Assistance with dressing/undressing
Ensure all patients nutritional status is maintained
Perform a range of clinical tasks or procedures which may include;
ECG acquisition
Peripheral IV access
Venepuncture
Basic & advanced casting
Pressure area risk assessment
Urinalysis
Pregnancy testing
Capillary blood glucose monitoring
Formed stoma care
Transfer patients to other areas as and when required
Ensure all aspects of care provided are accurately documented
Perform minor injury treatments including wound assessment and closure (not suturing)
Demonstrates own duties to new starters
Participate and promote the audit process with the department
